Bread, Glorious Bread!

We all know that Something Sweet Without Wheat sells tasty products that are wheat-free and very, well... sweet. But with all of the new expansions and resources the bakery has endured, the time has come to add some more gluten-free foods to the expanding product list!

Cookies, cakes, muffins, brownies, etc. have all been mastered and enjoyed by all, but as a gluten-free consumer, you know tasty breads are the hardest to come by.

So after numerous experiments, SSWW has released a variety of bread options that will make your taste buds go wild! You will have the opportunity to re-live what it feels like to actually enjoy a dinner roll in the evening, or wake up to some toasted cinnamon raisin bread without cringing as it crumbles in your hand.

Who says you can't still enjoy something sweet, without wheat?

Storefront in Woburn, MA
Who says food allergies have to ruin your mealtime experience? Something Sweet Without Wheat is a blossoming family-owned bakery that has taken this challenge above and beyond, and has really perfected the gluten-free, dairy-free challenge in just under a year. They are now focusing on offering many more delightful treats, in many more familiar locations. SSWW is out of Woburn, MA and now you can stay up to date, and get to know the bakery on a much more personal level with a blog!

Anise Cookies
A little history: Something Sweet Without Wheat was developed out of two sisters' passion for baking. Christine and Sandy were raised with a love for the kitchen, and when gluten and dairy intolerances were diagnosed first to Sandy's daughter, and eventually Christine and her kids, the ability to bake the treats they knew and loved became nothing but a new challenge. Some may think "going gluten-free" is just a fad, but Christine has been faced with stomach problems through out her life. Doctors could not come up with a diagnosis for years, and eventually it was discovered she had Ulcerative Colitis. After continuous medications, diet changes, etc. going gluten-free was the first thing Christine had tried that was actually effective. Once perfected, family members and friends raved about the unnoticeably gluten-free products, so, in August 2010, Christine and Sandy made the decision to sell them at the Stoneham Farmer's Market to see how it would go.

Some of SSWW products ready to be delivered
Exactly a year later SSWW products are available in  20+ locations, and the varieties and products available have expanded beyond a house-sized kitchen and into a new commercial bakery complete with all the needs to produce larger quantities without giving up that same old homemade touch. The staff at SSWW is made up of family members and close friends, and although the staff is expanding, the great energy that goes into all of these delicious recipes is only becoming greater.
